Newly built West Hotel Sydney due to open December 2017
SYDNEY, Australia and McLean, VA (August, 2017) – Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced the signing of its first Curio Collection by Hilton branded hotel in Sydney. Under the management agreement with M&L Hospitality, Hilton will manage the newly built West Hotel Sydney located at 65 Sussex Street by the southern entrance to Barangaroo. The 182-room hotel is due for completion by December 2017.
Curio Collection by Hilton is a global collection of independent and distinct hotels that offer guests one-of-a-kind experiences, each with personalities unique to the city they call home. Designed by Australian Architecture firm, Woods Bagot, the hotel will have its own distinct character appealing to the curious traveller seeking an authentic Sydney experience.
“As the first Curio Collection hotel in Australasia, the signing of West Hotel is an extremely exciting achievement for us. Sydney has an eclectic and diverse mix of people, cultures and experiences and West Hotel will be reflective of that,” said, Mark Nogal, global head of Curio – A Collection by Hilton.
Comprising of 182 stylish guest rooms, including four luxurious suites, a restaurant and bar, as well as a fully equipped gym and meeting rooms, West Hotel will attribute modern classic design elements, featuring deep tones and marble accents. There will also be a strong botanical theme running throughout; from the open-air atrium and white waratah flower motif in the lobby, to the carpet in the guest rooms. The hotel will also work with a local Sydney florist to create striking, seasonal arrangements and installations.
The south city location of the West Hotel will provide easy access to Sydney’s CBD, much-loved landmarks as well as various shopping and dining precincts including the new Barangaroo precinct, which is situated only moments away from the hotel.
“The new West Hotel is a unique, one-of-a-kind addition to our Australasia portfolio. We are extremely pleased to once again work with M&L Hospitality on this exciting new hotel project and look forward to welcoming guests to experience all of the hallmarks of a Curio Collection by Hilton property,” said Guy Phillips, senior vice president, development, Asia & Australasia, Hilton.
“M&L Hospitality is delighted to be expanding its relationship with Hilton with the signing of West Hotel, as part of Hilton’s Curio Collection,” said Neil Maxwell, chief executive officer of M&L Hospitality.
“The agreement builds on our strong existing partnerships with Hilton at properties in Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch and Prague. We are excited to be introducing this unique Hilton brand into Australia with the launch of West Hotel.”
