2019 & 2023 - SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL

Big Eyes, Big Minds (BEBM) – Singapore International Children’s Film Festival seeks to educate, enrich and inspire children through passionate storytelling and vibrant filmmaking. Dedicated to kids aged 2 to 18 years old, 8 films are chosen from around the globe that encapsulate diverse and imaginative ideas that broaden world views and stimulate critical thinking. By engaging kids through well-made and enjoyable films, the festival aims to cultivate film appreciation and inspire kids to express their creativity through the craft of filmmaking.

M&L HOSPITALITY & IBIS SINGAPORE ON BENCOOLEN DONATE THOUSANDS OF MEALS TO LOCAL HOSPITALS - MARCH 2020

ibis Singapore on Bencoolen and owners M&L Hospitality are showing their appreciation to Singapore’s frontline healthcare workers affected by the influx of COVID-19 patients by donating thousands of meals to local hospitals.

Starting on 24 March 2020, 400 Bento Box meals will be delivered each week for 8 weeks to two local government hospitals, the Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), to help the hospital feed staff and volunteers.

M&L Hospitality Bushfire Support - January 2020

M&L Hospitality’s deepest sympathies go out to all those families, businesses and communities in Australia who are impacted by the Australian bushfires.

To show our support and gratitude to the front line services battling these fires, M&L Hospitality has donated AUD100,000  to the Rural Fire Services along with AUD25,000 to the Salvation Army, whose Strategic Emergency and Disaster Management teams are working to help families directly affected by these fires.

“Our thoughts are with the impacted families and emergency personnel fighting the fires and contributing to the recovery effort,” said Mr Michael Kum, M&L Hospitality Executive Chairman.

M&L Hospitality has seven properties in Australia including the Hyatt Regency Sydney, Swissotel Sydney, West Hotel Curio Collection by Hilton, Perth Novotel Langley, Doubletree by Hilton Melbourne and soon to open Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street.

M&L HOSPITALITY STAFF FUNDRAISING FOR THE COMMUNITY - 2017

M&L Singapore office staff raised  S$12,000 for local Charities  including the President’s Challenge 2017, the Ren Ci Hospital, the Children’s Aid Society, Singapore Children’s Society and Chung Hwa Medical Institution as part of their efforts to give back to the community.

STEVE WAUGH FOUNDATION – THE CAPTAIN’S RIDE - 2017

Steve Waugh Foundation’s mission is to enhance the lives of children and families affected by a rare disease. Grants and fundraising assistance available.

M&L Hospitality sponsor a participant in The Captain’s Ride, a highlight of the Steve Waugh Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign – an internationally attended by invitation only, exclusive 6 day on road cycle Tour.

STARLIGHT CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION - 2016

The Starlight Children’s Foundation brightens lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, and their families, throughout Australia.

Starlight provides programs integral to the total care of seriously ill children – while health professionals focus on treating the illness, Starlight is there to lift the spirits of the child, giving them the opportunity to laugh, play and be a child again.

M&L Hospitality is pleased to contribute towards the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

LIONS HOME FOR THE ELDERS - 2016

M&L Hospitality is honoured to support the Lions Home for the Elders. This Voluntary Welfare Organisation actively promotes and employs best practices in providing services and programmes for the ageing community. Initiated and established by Lions Clubs of Singapore, Lions Home for the Elders offer a spectrum of Aged Care services, caregiver and family support to assist families to meet the challenges of loved ones growing old.

Mr. Michael Kum, Executive Chairman, shared that the company chose to contribute to the cause because “Caring for the elderly is our responsibility. We owe a considerable amount to this generation who has made a significant contribution to Singapore’s success. My main inspiration in giving back through Lions Home for the Elders and Lions Befrienders is to honour my late mother, who was a key figure in my life growing up.”

MS SYDNEY GONG RIDE - 2014

M&L Hospitality supported an employee and their team the “Green Machines” in the 2 November 2014 Sydney to Wollongong 90km bicycle ride to raise funds for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system and affects more than 23,000 Australians. M&L Hospitality corporate and colleagues supported the cause.

Total raised by the event was over $3Million.

1000 ENTERPRISES FOR CHILDREN-IN-NEED PROJECT - 2014 ONGOING

M&L Hospitality is proud to be an ongoing sponsor of the “1000 Enterprises for Children-in-Need” project.

All proceeds donated go towards assisting children, youth and families in need.

The 1000 Enterprises for Children-in-Need is a fundraising project carried out by The Singapore Children’s Society with the goal of rallying 1,000 or more businesses to support the charity to assist children in need.

The Singapore Children’s Society protects and nurtures children and youth of all races and religions, focussing on those who have been abused, neglected or come from troubled families.

PROPERTY INDUSTRY FOUNDATION'S HARD HAT DAY - 2013, 2014

The Property Industry Foundation (PIF) raises over $AUD 1.5 million a year, distributing substantial donations and providing in-kind building services to a range of charitable organisations that meet their mandate of “helping young people at risk”.

M&L Hospitality are proud to donate prizes to Knight Frank’s National Property Industry Foundation’s Hard Hat Day Spring Fete where funds are being raised to support homeless children living on the streets.

OXFAM AUSTRALIA OXFAM TRAILWALKER - 2012

Oxfam Trailwalker is Australia’s original 100km team challenge which raises funds to help overcome poverty and injustice around the world. In 2013, 2,000 teams took part in Oxfam Trailwalker across Australia, with the support of more than 2,500 volunteers and 6,000 support crew members, and raised more than $AUD 6 million. Since 1999, more than 52,000 people have participated in the event and have collectively raised more than $AUD 55 million.

Globally, the events have raised more than $AUD 140 million for Oxfam’s valuable work in Australia and around the world, with more than 200,000 people taking part and becoming great ambassadors for Oxfam’s work.

One Dollar Day is a charity based on the belief in the power of everyone donating $1, on just one day. The money raised on One Dollar Day is directed towards charities that help reduce global inequities in children’s health and education.

CHRISTMAS TREE OF HOPE CHARITY PROGRAM - 2011

The Christmas Tree of Hope Charity program is an initiative facilitated by the Swissotel Sydney to help give underprivileged children exactly what they want for Christmas.

250 underprivileged children are invited to hang their Christmas wishes on the hotel’s Christmas Tree in the lobby to be granted by team members, guests and the public.

The beneficiary of this charity initiative is called “A Start in Life”. They assist underprivileged Australian children between the ages of 4 to 25 and ensure the children, regardless of race, colour or creed are not missing out on receiving the essentials needed for schooling and a fulfilling education.
